Help Shape Highland's Future with Regeneration Funding
The Scottish Government has announced plans to open the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF) later this year, creating an exciting opportunity for projects that can make a lasting difference to communities across Highland.
The RCGF is a competitive, Scotland-wide fund that supports locally developed regeneration projects. The fund is designed to help tackle inequalities, drive inclusive economic growth, and create positive change in communities experiencing deprivation or fragility.
Previous applications for RCGF funding for Highland projects has been successful.£1,500,000 was award to John O’Groats Mill to bring it back into use as a new heritage and visitor attraction and £1,432,000 to the Old Clyne School Development in Brora to restore and regenerate the building and bring it back into use as a sustainable café, community and visitor centre.
Projects should demonstrate strong regeneration outcomes and be ready to start by December 2027. Priority will be given to projects that:
- Focus on areas experiencing high levels of deprivation and disadvantage
- Show clear and meaningful community involvement
- Deliver large-scale transformational change with long-term benefits
- Encourage additional investment and help address market failure
Do you have a Project That Could Make a Difference in Your Community? - Community groups and third-sector organisations cannot apply directly to the Scottish Government. Instead, The Highland Council will submit Stage 1 applications on their behalf for successfully selected projects during August 2026.
To be considered, organisations are asked to upload their project proposals to BeConnected - an interactive map and digital platform that helps showcase community priorities and gives funders a clear picture of grassroots activity across Highland.
The deadline to do this is midnight on 14 July 2026.
