What you can do first

Speak to the business

Often, the quickest way to resolve a noise issue is to speak directly to the business. They may not be aware of the problem.

When you speak to them, explain:

  • what the noise is
  • when it happens
  • how it affects you and your household

If you can't speak to them

If you're uncomfortable approaching the business, consider writing a polite letter or email. Keep your message respectful and constructive.

Keep a noise diary

Record:

  • dates and times of the noise
  • how long it lasts
  • how it affects you

This information helps us if we need to investigate further.
