Land contamination

How we manage contaminated land

We have a duty to inspect land for historical contamination and ensure that the land is suitable for use. This applies to land in its current use and to land where new use is proposed through planning or redevelopment.

Our responsibilities are set out in the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Part IIA and Scottish Government supporting guidance.
