Fort William Integrated Transport Plan
In June 2025, AECOM and Stantec were commissioned to produce an Integrated Transport Plan (ITP) for Fort William. This study marks the culmination of efforts to address longstanding issues with the resilience and reliability of the trunk road network through the town.
It is central to the 2040 Vision that commitments to road improvements and recommendations from the Scottish Government's Strategic Transport Projects Review 2, including the ITP, are implemented.
The study is overseen by a client delivery group comprising HITRANS, Transport Scotland, the Highland Council and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. HITRANS is the lead commissioning body.

A public consultation on the Fort William Integrated Transport Plan is now open until Monday 13 April 2026. Residents and businesses are invited to help shape Fort William’s future transport plans.
