Housing needs and demand assessment
We are undertaking a new Housing Need and Demand Assessment (HNDA) to inform the Highland Local Development Plan.
A HNDA:
- Estimates the number of additional housing units needed to meet existing and future housing requirements (social housing) and demand (market housing).
- Captures information on how the housing system operates to help local authorities develop policies on new housing provision, management of existing stock, specialist housing, and housing-related services.
HNDAs are carried out by local authorities or groups of authorities every five years. Our last HNDA was completed in 2021. We plan to complete the new HNDA by summer 2026.
