To help keep everyone safe and ensure a pleasant journey, follow these rules when using school transport.
You should:
- wait safely at the bus stop, well away from the road
- agree a plan with your parent or carer in case the bus doesn’t arrive or you miss it
- wait for the bus to stop before approaching - do not push or rush to get on
- show your bus pass if you’ve been issued one
- sit in an available seat, or in your assigned seat if your school has allocated places
- keep the aisle clear - do not block it with bags or belongings
- always wear your seatbelt while the bus is moving
- do not distract the driver while they are driving
- never throw anything inside the bus or out of the windows
- do not damage or vandalise any part of the bus
- only use emergency exits or operate doors in an emergency
- follow all instructions from the driver or passenger assistant
- wait for the bus to stop completely before standing to get off
- leave the bus calmly, taking all your belongings and any litter with you
- wait until the bus has moved away before crossing the road. Never cross in front of or close behind the bus
- in the event of an accident, stay on the bus unless told to leave
- if it is unsafe to stay, exit carefully and wait in a safe place away from the road and vehicle
- avoid eating on the bus, unless you have a medical reason to do so
