Procedure for submission of petitions

Submit a petition to us

Submitting a petition is one way for individuals, groups or communities to raise issues and influence decisions made by us. Petitions can lead to informed debate and may result in action being taken.

Before you submit a petition

You may want to raise your issue through other channels before submitting a petition:

  • raise the issue with your local community council
  • contact your local councillor, member of parliament or member of the scottish parliament
  • use the council’s complaints process

If you have already tried these routes, include details and copies of any correspondence with your petition.
