What you cannot petition about
Petitions will not be accepted if they relate to:
- regulatory matters with their own objection or appeal processes, such as planning or licensing
- matters that are sub judice or could lead to litigation
- issues already dealt with through the council’s complaints procedure or the scottish public services ombudsman
- individual councillors or council employees, including salaries or terms and conditions
- housing allocations for specific individuals
- decisions made by the council or its committees within the last six months
- political campaigning or attempts to influence support for political parties or groups
- content that could damage someone’s reputation or discriminate against them
- petitions that are solely frivolous or humorous
