Core paths review

West Highlands and Islands core paths plan review (started May 2015)

We have reviewed the core path plans for the West Highland and Islands area covering Skye, Lochalsh, Lochaber and Wester Ross. An amended core paths plan was published for consultation from July - October 2019. Land owners and occupiers were notified where a core path is being proposed for the first time.

The responses to this formal consultation have been assessed and recommendations put to the area committees with the plan being submitted to Scottish Government in Spring 2025.

Inner Moray Firth core paths plan review

In June 2019, a public call was made for suggested changes to core paths in Easter Ross, the Black Isle, Inverness, and Nairn. We are currently assessing which proposals are realistic and reviewing the process for updating the Core Paths Plan. Work on the amended Core Paths Plan for this area is expected to begin in late 2025.
