Personal information is required to administer, plan and manage youth and adult learning activities effectively and safely, ensuring that we have appropriate emergency contact details plus any medical or additional needs are catered for. These activities may be ‘drop in’ sessions, regular targeted sessions or planned trips and visits. We also require personal information to facilitate the delivery of a range of accredited and unaccredited achievement awards for young people and adults.
- If you do not give us your information

If you do not provide us with your personal details, we will be unable to formally register you as a learner and the participant will be unable to engage with the full programme of activities available, including achievement awards.

Youth Work & Adult Learning may share your personal information with other services within The Highland Council and with third parties in order for us to administer our services. These 3rd parties include - Saltire Awards, Youth Scotland, Scottish Qualifications Authority, John Muir, ASDAN, Plexus Media, High Life Highland, Scottish Youth Parliament and Young Scot.
Some information may also be shared with grant providers and funders, wherever possible this data is anonymised. Where this is not possible, we will make learners aware, and consent will be sought and recorded.
- How long we hold your information

Adult Learners – We will retain your personal data whilst you are a registered learner. Your information will be anonymised 12 months after your last engagement with us.
Youth Learners – We will retain your personal data whilst you are a registered learner. Your information will be anonymised 5 years after your last engagement with us.
- How to withdraw your consent

If you wish to stop using the Adult Learning and Youth Services and have your personal information removed from our database, email DPO@highland.gov.uk.
