Strategic priorities and eligibility

Strategic context Projects should align with:

  • the Place Based Investment Programme
  • the Place Principle
  • Regeneration Strategy
  • Town Centre Action Plan and Town Centre First Principle
  • Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan
  • Climate Change Plan
  • Climate Action Towns
  • National Planning Framework 4
  • Scotland’s National Strategy for Economic Transformation
  • Community Wealth Building
  • Securing Positive Effects for Biodiversity
  • Public Health Scotland’s strategic plan
  • Fair Work and Pay
  • local authority development and regeneration plans

Eligible projects At stage one, your project must:

  • meet the programme aims
  • be ready to spend or commit funding by March 2025
  • involve the community in its design
  • help achieve net-zero targets

Multi-year projects

  • complex projects that take longer to deliver are accepted

Ineligible projects and costs The fund does not support:

  • future running costs
  • housing as a primary focus (ancillary outcomes may be supported)
  • major transport infrastructure
  • moveable infrastructure like furniture and fittings
  • hotel or retail-only developments without regeneration outcomes
  • standalone public realm improvements, roads or paths (unless part of wider regeneration)
  • flood protection or upgrades

Important

  • grant drawdown must follow the approved profile
  • funding cannot be carried into future financial years
  • project end dates can go beyond March 2025, but future funding sources must be clear
