The deadline for completed application forms is 9am on Monday 12 June 2023.

Send completed project proposal templates by email to: CommunityRegenerationFund@highland.gov.uk

Submitting your application

  • complete a separate application form for each project proposal
  • if your proposal is part of a portfolio or place-based programme, you do not need to submit a separate form for each site — one form covering the full programme is sufficient
  • make sure the proposal is submitted by an appropriate official from your organisation
  • the named contact should be available to respond quickly to any requests for clarification
  • if possible, include an alternative contact in the space provided

Prioritising your project proposals

  • if submitting more than one proposal, number them in order of priority
  • funding is limited, so be realistic about how many proposals you submit and the amount of grant requested
  • at both stage 1 and stage 2, a key consideration will be whether the project is ready to be delivered in the 2024 to 2025 financial year
  • provide realistic project start and completion dates — this is expected to be between 1 April 2024 and 31 December 2024
  • projects must be on-site during 2024
  • if your project starts after 31 December 2024 but before 31 March 2025, you must provide a clear justification for its viability
  • project delivery can extend beyond the RCGF funding period, but you must submit monitoring reports for up to 12 months after physical completion

Demonstrating eligible costs and expenditure

  • provide a clear estimated breakdown of costs the grant will be used for — this should cover eligible capital expenditure
  • a more detailed breakdown will be required at stage 2
  • you can request 100% of the project cost, but proposals showing other sources of investment will be viewed more favourably
  • include any wider programme costs only in the project description to avoid confusion about what the grant will fund
  • where possible, include details of expenditure beyond the funding period, including multiyear plans and how onward development will be financed
  • grants are usually paid in arrears and must relate to spend that is actually incurred or legally committed
  • ensure your expenditure figures match the project’s start and end dates
  • you cannot claim grant funding for costs incurred before 1 April 2024
