Energy advice

Choose a green energy tariff or fund

Most energy suppliers offer green energy tariffs. If you choose one, your supplier must match some or all of the electricity you use with energy from renewable sources, such as:

  • wind farms
  • hydroelectric power

This doesn’t mean the electricity you use comes directly from these sources, but the supplier ensures an equivalent amount is added to the grid from renewables.

What a green fund is

A green fund lets you pay a premium to support renewable energy projects. Your contribution goes into a fund used to develop new renewable energy sources.

Combined options

Some energy suppliers offer tariffs that combine green energy and green fund contributions.
