Risk of homelessness

Accommodation

Everyone on the Homeless Need list will be considered for all types of housing.

At your assessment, a housing officer will talk to you about your choices and preferences.

You may need to be flexible. This could mean:

  • moving to a different area
  • registering with a new GP
  • changing your child’s school or nursery

Temporary accomodation

If you are homeless, we will talk to you about whether you need emergency accommodation.

You will need to pay rent for any temporary accommodation we provide.

Accommodation may not be in the area you prefer, but we will do our best to help.

Furniture

We may be able to help you store your furniture. There is likely to be a charge for this.

If you need help getting furniture or other household items, we can help with that too.

Pets

We do not have a legal duty to look after pets. We may allow pets in some types of temporary accommodation.

If you are homeless and cannot take your pets into your temporary accommodation, you should ask friends or family to look after them or use a kennel or cattery.
