Tasks and responsibilities
The remit of the North Planning Applications Committee (NPAC) is to exercise delivery of the development management and enforcement functions in regard to:

Town and Country Planning

Building Standards
-
Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas
-
Hazardous Substances
-
Enforcement
-
Tree Preservation Orders
-
Crown Land
Also, to respond to consultations from Scottish Ministers on energy developments, where such functions and powers are not delegated to Officers or where Officers have declined to exercise their delegated powers
An application originally considered at the Committee and subject to a Notice of Amendment (Planning) is re-considered at the Environment, Development and Infrastructure Committee. Applications for planning permission which relate to or are falling within the category of 'national development', or 'major development', which are considered to be significantly contrary to the development plan, are considered at the Highland Council.
