Put your Community Project on the Map!

“BeConnected” – A New Way to Shape Community Investment

The Highland Council is calling on community organisations across Highland to share their projects that will make a difference in their local area.

At a meeting of The Highland Council  last month members agreed to pilot BeConnected - an interactive online map that allows community groups to highlight priority projects in their area.

Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans said: “The BeConnected interactive map gives a live, transparent view of what’s happening across Highland. Not only will it help us target support where it’s most needed, but it will also ensure that funders have a clear picture of grassroots activity across Highland and can track the progress of emerging proposals. I encourage people who are interested to join one of the on-line sessions so they can find out more details.”

Funders, such as The Community Regeneration Funding team, will be using the BeConnected map as the first point of reference for identifying eligible projects to allocate funds.

Decision makers will use the map to prioritise proposals that align with Area Place Plans. Selected groups will then be invited to submit an Expression of Interest, which will inform the next stage of the funding process.

To help groups get started, the Council will be hosting two online engagement sessions on Wednesday 28 January. This will give community groups the opportunity to meet with funders and discuss how BeConnected will be used as a resource for funding.

The sessions will be held online via Microsoft Teams, and you can join via the links below:

The Community Regeneration Fund team are encouraging community groups and organisations to join the session if they have questions or queries.

Add your community project to the map to make sure they’re visible to funders! We want to hear from you.
