Domestic noise complaints

Report domestic noise

If informal steps do not work and the noise continues to cause a nuisance, you can report it to us. We investigate complaints under the Statutory Nuisance provisions in The Environmental Protection Act 1990.

You will be asked for the following information:

  • your name and address
  • a contact number and preferably an email address
  • the address where noise is coming from - we cannot deal with complaints where only the block of houses or flats are known
  • when and for how long the noise occurs
  • the way the noise affects you
  • anything you have done to try and deal with the problem (for example, talking to your neighbour regarding the problem)

Your details will not be given to the person complained about without your permission.
