How to use the map
When the map loads, a welcome screen provides instructions. You can reopen this screen at any time by clicking the information button.
Tip: For the best experience, use a desktop or large-screen device.
Viewing and filtering data
- Use the layers panel on the left to turn data on or off based on your interests.
- Click on a map item to open a popup with key details and a link to the ePlanning portal for more information.
- Some applications appear in multiple categories (e.g. storage and transmission). These are shown in all relevant layers.
- Applications at all planning stages are included—from pre-application and screening/scoping to full planning applications.
Search and filter tools
- Use the search button to enter a planning reference number or part of a site name. Click a result to zoom to its location.
- Use the Time Filter to view cases updated within a specific time period. Drag the ends of the timeline to adjust the range (e.g. from 2020 to the present).
- By default, all application statuses are shown. Use the Filter Cases button to view only approved or refused applications.
Notes
- A single project may have multiple applications (such as pre-application, full application, or consent under Section 36/37 of the Electricity Act 1989).
- Applications are “clustered” when zoomed out to keep the map clear. The number shown indicates how many applications are in that area. Zoom in to see individual locations.
