Fort William Integrated Transport Plan

In June 2025, AECOM and Stantec were commissioned to produce an Integrated Transport Plan for Fort William. This study marks the culmination of efforts to address longstanding issues with the resilience and reliability of the trunk road network through the town. There is more information on our Map of projects.

A 4 week public consultation and survey have now closed. You can still get in touch with the project team at any time during the study, which is anticipated for completion by December 2026, by emailing FortWilliamITP@aecom.com.

Partnering for Progress

On the 19 November 2025, a wide range of organisations and members of the public came together at the Nevis Centre, Fort William for a ‘Partnering for Progress’ event. The free drop-in event saw public agencies, organisations, and communities come together under one roof to share ideas, showcase initiatives and explore opportunities for collaboration across Lochaber. FW2040 was part of the organising team and attended to provide an update on the Masterplan and give the opportunity for feedback from those who attended.

Town Centre Masterplan

The Town Centre Masterplan project has included a programme of consultation and engagement with communities, stakeholders, and partners. A four week public exhibition of the Masterplan was hosted in Fort William Library on the High Street in February and March 2024. Sessions were also held with students at UHI NW+H, Lochaber High School pupils, and with local businesses through the Lochaber Chamber of Commerce. Information on how we used data gathered during this work can be found on our privacy notice.

A range of reports have been produced to support the Masterplanning process.
