Inverness Strategy is our shared approach to communicating priorities and responsibilities for development and investment across the city and surrounding area.
The online StoryMap tracks activity across public, private and community sectors. It clarifies what is being done to benefit the places where we live, work, visit and invest - highlighting project goals, timings, and responsible parties. The StoryMap brings together current projects and future opportunities into a single overview. It demonstrates how various activities and investments can build on each other to realise a larger, collective vision.
Inverness Strategy also aims to advance this partnership vision for the future. The priority outcomes in the StoryMap are based on existing plans, strategies and stakeholder engagement across communities, businesses and partner agencies. The Strategy acts as a prospectus for partnership working to promote Inverness as the centre of economic, social and cultural activity in Highland. By improving coordination, funding and delivery of plans and projects, the Strategy aims to ensure Inverness and the City Centre remain Highland’s premier destination for residents, visitors, workers and investors.
Public and stakeholder engagement on the development of the Strategy concluded in December 2024. We are now preparing to report the findings to Highland Council’s City and Area Committee in February 2025.
