How to apply
Your child must be enrolled at their catchment primary school before your placing request is assessed. A place will be reserved at your catchment school until a decision is made on your request.
If you are unable to complete the placing request form online, a paper copy is available from the school you wish your child to attend.
Timescales for decisions
The timescales for decision-making are as follows:
- To start school in August, your application must be submitted by 15 March. You will receive a decision by 30 April.
- Applications received after 15 March for the new school term will be decided within two months.
- Requests to change schools during the school year will be decided within two months of receipt.
Once a decision is made, you will receive a letter. If your request is approved, you must accept the place within one month. Failing to respond will result in the offer being withdrawn, and you will need to reapply. If your request is declined, the letter will explain how to appeal.
If you do not receive a decision within the 2-month statutory timescale, your request is treated as refused.
School transport
If your child attends a school outside your catchment area, you are responsible for arranging transport to and from school.
