We enforce regulations to make sure goods sold by weight or volume are accurate and fair.

We check that:

  • weighing and measuring equipment is accurate when first installed
  • equipment used in shops and businesses remains accurate over time
  • products are correctly measured during manufacturing or import
  • goods on sale meet legal quantity requirements
  • complaints about short weight or measure are investigated

  • petrol pumps
  • pub spirit measures
  • beer and wine glasses
  • prepacked goods (at the factory or point of sale)
