We have created a dedicated webpage for young voters to participate and engage in upcoming elections. You can find out more information below.

Voting in an Election is your chance to help decide who will make decisions on issues that affect you every day.

What’s New?

The third newsletter has been issued to secondary pupils and this issue focusses on:

  • Community Council Logo Competition
  • Community Council Elections 2023
  • By-Elections: What are they?

We attended the Highland Youth Parliament conference “High5” this year alongside our colleagues from the Electoral Registration Office. This gave us a chance to engage with Young People regarding the upcoming Community Council Elections and our Logo Competition.

Community Council Logo Competition

We gave young people a chance to design a new logo for our upcoming Local Government Elections which will be taking place in November this year.

The winner was Calum Torens from Inverness Royal Academy,  who will be presented with his prize at the upcoming Education Committee on Thursday 7 September 2023.

How to vote

In order to vote you must be on the Register of Electors.

If you are not registered, you can't vote - it is as simple as that.

Register to Vote

Those registered to vote will receive a Poll Card shortly before polling day detailing further information on where and how to vote in the election.

If you are unable to vote in person, in certain circumstances, you may be able to vote by post or appoint a proxy (which is appointing someone to vote on your behalf).

“Our Guide to Elections” Presentation

Please watch our guide to voters presentation for further information on voting.
