A building warrant is the legal permission required to start building work, convert, or demolish a building. It is an offence to begin work without a warrant if you need one.

eDevelopment.scot is a free online service provided by the Scottish Government that allows you to prepare and submit applications for:

• building warrant
• amending an existing warrant
• submitting additional supporting documents
• obtaining a completion certificate
• notifying that construction has commenced or been completed
• extending the time period of a building warrant
