How to apply for completion
Apply online through the eBuilding Standards portal.
You will need:
- your building warrant reference number
- confirmation that the work is complete
- any certificates from approved certifiers (if used)
You may need to upload extra documents, such as:
- photos or drawings to show the finished work
- energy performance certificate
- electrical or gas safety certificates
- air tightness test results
- fire alarm commissioning certificate
- sustainability certificate

What happens next
After you apply, we will:
- check your application
- inspect the work (if needed)
- decide whether to accept the certificate
We may ask for more information or changes before accepting it.
You must not use or occupy the building until we accept the certificate.
The exception is if you receive permission from us for the temporary occupation or use of the building for a specified time.
