Corran ferry project summary

Infrastructure improvement scheme

The Scheme will deliver major upgrades on both sides of the crossing to support the introduction of a new electric vessel and enhance the long-term resilience of the service.

On the Ardgour side, the project includes construction of a new slipway and a dedicated overnight berthing pier. On the Nether Lochaber side, just north of the Corran settlement, the improvements will include a new slipway and modern public toilet facilities

The new infrastructure is being designed to accommodate:

  • the existing MV Corran
  • the future electric vessel
  • compatibility with CalMac’s Roll-on/Roll-off ferries, used across the West of Scotland

This ensures maximum flexibility and future-proofing of the route.

Project timeline

Design work is now complete, with construction scheduled for completion by May 2027.
