Care Workers and Carers
Council Tax is usually based on at least two adults aged 18 or over living in a home. If fewer than two adults count, you might get a discount.
Some people are not included, also known as disregarded, as occupiers to calculate Council Tax. These include:
- care workers who are employed by a charity or local council and work at least 24 hours a week
- people who care for someone with a disability (as long as the person they care for is not their partner or a child under 18), and they provide at least 35 hours of care each week
If someone in your home meets these conditions, you may be able to get a Council Tax discount.
