People living permanently in hospitals or care homes
Council Tax is usually based on at least two adults aged 18 or over living in a home. If fewer than two adults count, you might get a discount.
If someone has moved into a hospital, care home, or nursing home permanently, they do not count when working out how much Council Tax needs to be paid for their former home.
This means the bill could be reduced, or in some cases, no Council Tax may be due at all.
