Development enquiry

Use the development enquiry service to find out whether your proposal requires planning permission or a building warrant. We will provide you with a written response.

Submit a development enquiry if you are:

  • changing a domestic property, such as building an extension, making alterations or developing within your garden
  • changing the use, making internal or external alterations, or extending a business, industrial, or agricultural building
  • a utilities provider notifying us of works
  • a telecommunications provider wishing to notify us of permitted development rights or find out if planning permission is needed

Telecommunications providers offering Prior Notification should use the Prior Notification form.

Fees

A fee applies to the development enquiry service, as it is a value-added service. Fees are reviewed annually and updated each April.
