Wind farm design workshop
We offer a Wind Farm Design Workshop to help you explore landscape and visual impact issues in detail. This solutions-based workshop is best held at the design stage or shortly before, after your proposal has received feedback through our Major Pre-Application Advice Service.
Fees
This is a value-added service and subject to a fee. Fees are reviewed annually and updated in April.
- Details of the applicable fee can be found on our main planning fees page
- To help estimate the planning application fee, you can use the Scottish Government ePlanning.Scot Planning Fee Calculator
- For payment options, please visit our Planning Payment Options page
What the workshop includes
As part of this service, we will spend up to two hours reviewing how your design aligns with our Onshore Wind Energy Supplementary Guidance. Using wirelines and, where appropriate, photomontages prepared by your landscape consultants, we will assess:
- key design viewpoints
- how well the proposal fits the design rationale for the area
- whether further design changes may be necessary
This workshop complements our Pre-Application Advice Service for Major Developments, which provides guidance on wider planning constraints and includes input from internal and external consultees.

To participate in the workshop, please submit the following:
- location plan
- site layout plan
