Our redaction policy
All information will be published unless it includes specific circumstances as noted below.
To protect personal privacy and sensitive data, the following types of information will be redacted (blacked out) - whether in electronic format or by withholding the document.
We may also redact any content considered derogatory or defamatory, including language that is salacious, slanderous, or factually incorrect.
When assessing a planning application, we refer to the unredacted version of all submitted information.
Information we redact
We redact:
- handwritten signatures
- personal telephone numbers, including mobile numbers (excluding business phone numbers)
- personal email addresses (excluding business email addresses)
- photographs or images showing vehicle registration plates included in a submission
- identifying information about vulnerable individuals, including children and young people, such as disability registrations, certificates, or medical documents
- medical or health-related information, including carer requirements
- personal financial details, such as bank statements
- business plans
- information relating to protected characteristics, such as nationality, religious beliefs
- details of criminal convictions
- specific site or location data for protected bird and mammal species, such as sections of studies, design statements, or reports
Information we do not redact
We will not redact:
- property addresses
- stock images, even if they include faces or vehicle registration plates
- financial, business, or operational information unless explicitly marked as confidential
- developer contribution figures
- electronic signatures
- initials
