Plastic, metal and containers (green bin)
Use your green bin to recycle plastic, metal and containers.
You can recycle
- plastic bottles, tubs and trays
- food tins and drink cans
- empty aerosols
- cartons
- aluminium food trays
Before recycling
- rinse containers
- remove lids and caps
- flatten bottles and cartons
Ensure all items are clean and dry.
Do not include
- dirty and bagged recycling
- containers with food or residues of food waste (everything must be clean for recycling)
- plastic bags
- plastic film
- polystyrene
- bubble wrap
Check your bin collection days
Plastic bags and film cannot be recycled in your household bins. They can be recycled in many locations across Scotland.
