What you can put in your household bins

Food waste (silver caddy)

If your home gets a food waste collection, you can get free caddies and liners to help you recycle.

If your home does not get a food waste collection, you can find out about home composting.

Why recycle food waste?

Recycling food waste:

  • helps the environment
  • makes green energy
  • creates fertiliser for farms and gardens

If food waste goes to a landfill, it gives off methane gas. This is much worse for the planet than carbon dioxide.
