Upcoming elections

Scheduled elections in all or part of Highland:

• Community Council Interim Election – Tuesday 19 March 2024
• The Highland Council By-Election for Ward 19: Inverness South - Thursday 11 April 2024
• UK Parliamentary (General) Election - (anytime) before January 2025
• Scottish Parliamentary Election - Thursday 7 May 2026
• Local Government (Council) Elections - Thursday 6 May 2027

These dates may be subject to new or revised legislation which mean polls may be moved to other dates. 

By-elections can occur at any time with as little as 7 weeks notice when a vacancy arises.e.g. due to a death or resignation of an elected member. 

Unscheduled or snap elections can be called with a minimum of 25 working days notice.
