Employment at elections

Counting votes

Once polls close at 10pm, we are always looking to recruit people to count votes during the day or overnight depending on the election.  No previous experience is required but you should have basic numeracy skills and good manual dexterity.

The length of time a count takes depends on the type of election and the complexity. You must be prepared to stay as long as it takes.

Every person attending the count will be required to maintain the secrecy of voting.

We have several roles available at the count, and this is where we verify and count the votes and sort out the equipment that has been returned from the polling stations after the close of poll.

Count staff employed will be fully trained and be asked to attend training in-person or online.  Online mandatory training is usually available before the election, all details will be sent out via email in the weeks leading up to the election.
