Continued contact

An Education Support Officer will contact families by email or letter at least once a year to update them on education provision and offer advice if requested. If there are concerns about the educational arrangements, more frequent contact may be arranged.

Parents can choose to provide a written update or request a meeting. The young person’s views are also welcome.

If concerns have been identified and the parent or guardian fails to address them, we may issue an attendance order. This grants the parent or guardian up to 14 days to provide information to reassure us about the quality of education being provided. If this does not occur, the child will be expected to return to school.
