Being a council tenant
When you become a council tenant, you sign a lease agreement. This is a legal contract between:
- you (the tenant)
- us (the council, as your landlord)
The lease explains the rules and responsibilities for both you and us. Check your lease for full details about your rights and responsibilities.
If you need help or have a question, you can contact:
- us (your local council)
- your local Citizens Advice Bureau
- an Advice Agency
- a solicitor
Change in circumstances
Let us know if anything changes in your household, such as a:
- new baby
- new partner
- change in your job or income
You can also ask to:
- add someone as a joint tenant
- remove someone from your tenancy
