Cold Call Control Zones

Advice for traders and businesses

Can I still visit homes in a Cold Call Control Zone?

Yes. It is not illegal to enter a Cold Call Control Zone. However, residents in these zones have agreed that they do not wish to receive cold calls. By visiting these homes, you may be met by residents who are informed and empowered to report your activity.

Best practice for traders

If your business involves visiting people at home, follow these guidelines:

  • make an appointment in advance wherever possible
  • be prepared to return another day if the resident is unsure about your identity
  • respect the resident’s wishes if they say they do not want to engage
  • carry clear identification and be ready to show it
  • familiarise yourself with national and local guidance
