Who to involve and consult

Trading Standards

Let us know if you are planning to set up a zone. We can:

  • provide advice and best practice
  • share data on reported doorstep crime
  • support your planning and consultation

Local councillors

Your local councillors can:

  • support your proposal
  • help raise awareness
  • provide advice on funding and community engagement

Ward Manager

Ward Managers:

  • work closely with community groups
  • oversee service delivery in your area
  • organise public Ward Forums with councillors

They can help connect you with the right people and resources.

Police Scotland

Community police officers:

  • patrol local areas
  • attend Ward Forums and Community Council meetings
  • provide advice on crime prevention and community safety

Community Councils

Community Councils:

  • represent the voice of your local community
  • can apply for grants to support zone setup
  • may be able to lead or support the zone’s operation

Local residents

Consulting residents is essential. You should:

  • issue a consultation document to every household in the proposed zone
  • explain what the zone is and how it works
  • invite feedback and support
